Properties

Talcum has the chemical composition of Mg₃(Si₄O₁₀)(OH)₂. It is flake powder of various colors such as white, ivory-white, or French gray with the pearl-like or fatty-like luster. Talcum has a trioctahedral structure, thus it is very soft and has a soapy feel. Talcum has a hardness of 1.0. It has good electrical insulation, heat resistance, and does not act with acid and alkali.
